Where we came from / How we came to the Shelter:I belonged to an
older woman who one day decided that she no longer wanted a dog so she asked that
I be "taken out and shot!" Thankfully, a nice young lady intervened, however my
good luck was short lived. My new mom was soon going to be a grandma and the family
decided that they didn't want any dog around the baby, so they were also going to
have me shot. (What is it with these people?) It is only because of a compassionate
family member that I am still alive. They brought me to CARA in hopes of finding
a family who will love me FOREVER regardless of what the future holds.
My Story
I love people but I am highly jealous of other dogs, therefore I will likely need to be an "only child." My tail wasn't docked but everyone thinks I am a purely-bred Cocker Spaniel, not to mention. . . I am SO Cute!!! Since I had such an unfortunate upbringing, housing with very small children probably wouldn't be a good idea. Kids 7-8, and older should be fine. I have had a life full of tribulations, and often being only one step from death, so I really need someone to love me and someone that I can love and depend on. I hope that my next home will be my LAST!

Where we came from / How we came to the Shelter: My owner gave
me up because the kids no longer cared about taking care of me and playing with
me because the "new had worn off".
My Story
I am the sweetest little girl that you could ever meet and I am perfectly happy just being held. I love to play with other dogs, kids or cats...pretty much anyone who will play with me. My coat hardly sheds, therefore I will need to be groomed. Please come visit me at CARA, I know you will love me because everyone else does!

Ideal type of home: A home with only older children, or no children,
and no other pets would be ideal. Someone with experience with Boxers, as a breed,
or other large dogs is a plus.
Where I came from / How I came to the Shelter: My owner gave me
up because they moved to a new subdivision with open lots that didn't allow fences.
My Story
I am a big, beautiful Boxer, and true to my breed I can be a bully if allowed to always get my way. An experienced dog owner would be best suited for me because I like to be alpha and I really need someone who will know how gently to be the leader of my pack. My heartworms are very minor, so I should be kept on heartworm preventative and checked in a few months to see if they have cleared my system. Even though I am not currently house trained, large breed dogs (and adult dogs) nearly always catch on VERY quickly, so there should be no worries about house training. I am a very sweet boy and I am looking for my new forever home with someone who can love me until I am old and gray.

Ideal type of home: They don't know much about me and my personality,
but I must get along with other dogs because I lived with a lot of them. If you
love Basset Hounds, please come to visit me; you can spend a little time with me
and talk with other folks at MARL who can fill you in on my personality.
Where we came from / How we came to the Shelter: My owner dropped
me off at MARL because they had too many dogs.
My Story
I am definitely a purely bred Basset Hound and I am BEAUTIFUL! My owner had too many dogs so they gave me up to the shelter. I hope to find my new loving home where I can live forever and really have someone to depend on. Please come visit me, even if you can't adopt me, I would love to have someone to give me a really good doggy-massage and a little attention. I would love to go for a walk!

Ideal type of home: Again, the folks at MARL don't know much about
me except that I am a purely bred Weimaraner who desperately needs a new family
to love me and take care of me until my dying days. Someone who is familiar with
Weimaraners, as a breed, is a plus.
Where we came from / How we came to the Shelter: I was picked up
as a stray, but my owner was contacted and they chose to let me stay at the shelter.
My Story
Hopefully, I will find a loving home that will have a good fence because I can be somewhat of an escape artist. I am a beautiful girl who really just needs someone to love me and care for me. Even if you can't adopt me, please come by and take me for a walk and give me a little doggy love!
