Where I came from / How I came to the Shelter: Owner Surrender

My Story

I was bought (along with Lizzy, a female) for the sole purpose of being breeders. Our owner had to go in the hospital and then decided to give us up. We miss our owner terribly, but we are excited to not just be kept around for breeding stock while our efforts are only for the monetary gain of the person who feeds us. A life where we are loved for who we are is surely in our immediate future!

Thankfully, Lizzy found her loving home last weekend but Zack is still waiting on his special someone!

Deuce needs a home!

Meet Deuce

Where dog is located now: CARA
Name: Deuce
Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years
Breed: Rottwieler
Color: Black & Tan
Size: Large
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Medical Information: Healthy
Interaction with Kids: Great
Interaction with Dogs: Females only
Interaction with Cats: NO!
Ideal Type of Home: I am a very friendly boy and very big, so I would probably need an owner that knows how to handle large breed dogs.

My Story

I initially came to CARA as a puppy and then was adopted by a nice family in Brandon, MS. Unfortunately, I was returned to the shelter over the weekend because the neighbor's dog picked a fight with me. Finally, after the dog antagonized me for months, I had enough and when he just wouldn't stop, we got into a fight. I didn't start it, but he had to go the vet for a few stitches. Because of Brandon's restrictions against "dogs deemed as dangerous breeds", the authorities told my family that they couldn't keep me anymore even though the other dog was the instigator. My family was very sad when they had to bring me back to CARA. They took GREAT care of me and truly loved me! They said that I was the "best dog they ever had!" I look like a pure bred Rottwieler, but my tail wasn't docked. I would be fine with a female dog, but probably won't do well with a male. No cats please.

Gypsy needs a home!

Meet Gypsy

Where dog is located now: Paws Rescue, Vicksburg, MS
Name: Gypsy
Sex: Female
Age: 2-3 Years
Breed: Labrador Mix
Color: Black
Size: Large
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Medical Information: starting heartworm treatment in another week
Interaction with Kids: She is shy and timid at first. Older kids would be better for her.
Interaction with Dogs: Great
Interaction with Cats: She barks at them.

My Story

I was saved from life on the streets by a lady who worked for several days to rescue me. Since my early interaction with humans wasn't good, it took me a little while to learn how to trust a person. Now that I know not all humans are bad, I realize what I was missing in a warm, safe and loving home. I try really hard to please and would make a great companion for a single person or a family. I've been spayed and I have all of my shots, but unfortunately I have heartworms. I will be getting treated in another month or so. In the meantime, I'm just enjoying the good life with my foster mom and foster brother. They have been super great to let me hang out with them until I found my own forever home.

Brighton needs a home!

Ideal type of home: I need a home with someone who will let me stay indoors and is able to keep up with my beautiful coat (when it grows out).

My Story

I am a victim of home foreclosure, my family had to relocate and couldn't take me with them. Since I know the comforts of a loving family, I hope that someone will read my story and open their home to me. I am well trained, house broken and healthy so my new home should be easy to find, I just hope I don't have to stay here too long because I am lonely. I can be a little toy possessive but with the right amount of training I should come along nicely.
